We’ve got the perfect festive cocktail for you this Christmas! Picture Christmas pudding, in a glass with a nice hint of orange and you’ve got it! If you enjoy trying something new, and love flavoursome cocktails, then this is a brilliant recipe for you!
Before you start grab some ingredients!
• Glass: Straight-Sided Tumbler
• Ice: Cubed
• Garnish: Orange Twist
• Mixer: Shaker glass
• Ingredients:
• 3 dashes of orange bitters
• 1 shot of *Xmas syrup
• A small disc of lemon peel (about 50p piece in size)
• 2 shots of a Scotch whisky of your choice (we recommend a spicy one with undertones of dried fruits – like a Christmas pudding!)
Method:
You will need to do some prep prior to creating the cocktail as the sugar syrup must be made beforehand:
• Take 1 part sugar and add 2 parts boiling hot water and let the sugar dissolve. Whilst the liquid is still hot, add in cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves. Cover and leave in the fridge overnight.*
Now for the cocktail:
• Fill Straight-Sided Tumbler with ice and water to chill
• Take Shaker Glass. Add:
• Small disc of lemon peel (about 50p piece in size)
• 3 dashes of orange bitters
• Use a muddler and gently press the lemon so the oils from the peel mix with the bitters
Add:
• 1 measure of Xmas Syrup*
• 2 measures of whisky (Tamdhu 10)
• 8-12 ice cubes
• Stir for at least 30 seconds until liquid comes up to about ice level
• Dip taste – if it is a little bit too strong stir for a bit longer.
• Empty Straight-Sided Tumbler
• Fill Straight-Sided tumbler with ice
• Strain into ice-filled tumbler
• Twist orange strip over drink and place on ice
• Sip and enjoy – slàinte mhath!
